Daytime Running Lights are specially designed to switch on when the engine is started. From 7 February 2011 all new cars will have to have Daytime Running Lamps fitted. According to EU research, motorists could help to prevent around 2,000 road deaths each year with the use of Daytime Running Lamps. studies have shown, that not seeing other road users, plays a role in 50% of daytime accidents.
These Ursa retro fit lights from Ring Automotive, used as daytime running lights, will offer a great contrast from the vehicle surroundings making it more visible to other road users including cyclists and pedestrians. This should help to reduce the number of serious road accidents.
The slim compact design enables the lamps to be fitted discreetly to most cars. With a fitting kit and simple to follow instructions the lamps can generally be fitted within an hour, depending on the vehicle. each lamp unit contains 8 x 1.5 w ultra bright LED's for maximum light output from minimal energy consumption.
The built in automatic switching unit allows the lights to be illuminated as soon as the engine is switched on but will extinguish them once the vehicle side lights are turned on. The lights can also be fitted as optional position lights in conjunction with the existing side lights.
For an ideal installation, these Ursa Daytime Running Lamps can be mounted under the bumper to provide improved visibility during daylight and therefore help to reduce the risk of accidents. These Ursa lamps provide a narrow, intense beam of light.
